The dry weather has continued with no rainfall for yet another week across North Georgia.
With the continued dry weather, the drought has continued to worsen. The latest update from the drought monitor has put far northwest corner of the state into an extreme drought with a moderate drought now encompassing most of White, Habersham, Rabun and points west.
Cornelia has only seen 1.41″ of rain this month, with only 3.33″ since the first of September. This has led to a 2 month deficit of right near 5″. Unfortunately the dry weather will likely last a while longer. The latest GFS shows barely any rain over the next 10 days as high pressure continues to dominate.
Fire risks will likely continue to worsen over the coming week or two so be extra careful as leaf burning season gets into full swing.
