Domestic dispute leads to meth arrests

Three people are in jail on drug charges, nabbed during an investigation into a domestic dispute in Cornelia.

Police Chief Chad Smith says a woman walked into the Cornelia Police Department Friday, Jan. 2, around 3pm and told them she’d been physically assaulted by a man on Bea Loop Lane. The victim identified the suspect as Francisco Avila Sixtos. Smith says she gave officers a description of the vehicle Sixtos left the scene in and warned them he might be armed with a gun.

Baldwin Police stopped the vehicle on Wayside Street around 4:15pm at the request of the Cornelia Police Department. Officers found the 28-year old Sixtos in the car along with two passengers.

Sixtos was arrested and charged with simple battery. The investigation led to additional charges and the arrests of 47-year old Janet Estep and 55-year old George Gallagher.

All three face numerous charges including possession of methamphetamine and manufacturing meth with intent to distribute. They’re being held in the Habersham County Detention Center.
